Dr. Anthony Broughton is an award-winning master educator, educational consultant, and educational leader who hails from Cross, South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Benedict College, Master’s in Education from Columbia College and a Doctor of Philosophy in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina, by the age of 30. Dr. Broughton streamlined his talents and experiences as a certified educator, regional pre-k coordinator at the SC Department of Education and an administrator to develop AVA Educational Consulting, LLC. Dr. Broughton is the chief consultant of this educational consulting firm which provides resources and culturally responsive trainings for teachers and administrators across the nation. Children around the world affectionately refers to Dr. Broughton as “MiSTER B,” as they engage in his highly energetic and interactive educational videos; such as his hit song, “Watch the Letters Get Down,” which has over 2 million views on YouTube. Dr. Broughton is an author of four children’s books and one academic book. Amid various community engagements, Dr. Broughton serves on the national and state level governing board member for the National Association for the Education of Young Children and serves on the board of the South Carolina Early Childhood Association. He is a member of several organizations, such as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; and has received several awards such as the inaugural SC Black Pages Top 40 under 40 recipient, the Call Me MISTER Trailblazer award, and the SCAEYC Lifetime Achievement Award, The Ralph Witherspoon Award, for his service to the community.
